Buffalo arms have several brass drop tubes some 3/8" diameter some .315". Is the smaller one usable for 32-20 ammo, or is it too large diameter?

Thanks.

use powder funnel on your brass no spillage that way. 3.1/8 or 315.

Hello, Darto. I went to local hobby store..they carry various dia. brass tubing 36" long.
I made own from 3/8" for .40 cal. A brass ferrel is snug slip-fit..use as stop in case mouth.
When I needed one for a .25-25 Stevens, I used a 1/4" dia.

Know any bow shooters? Bent/busted aluminum arrows make dandy drop tubes and they're cheap. Regatds, Woody

OK, thanks folks, we have a large hobby store in town, I shoot a lot but only wooden arrows with an English longbow, arrows are usually a 32nd less than 3/8". Too large. Auto parts stores here too. Will probably find something cheaper than Italian tubes.

EDIT: I see Hornady online propaganda sheet says smaller tube endings pack denser, something about the diameter is as important as the height for more packing ability. http://www.hornady.com/store/Extended-Powder-Drop-Tube-Clear-1Each/

Pouring the powder slowly through a funnel is also a way to pack more powder into a casing. It can pack the powder almost as dense as a drop tube.

Obtain a Lyman 55 powder measure. You don't need the black powder model, Mark the edge of the handle and measure housing so you can identify exactly where the measure starts dumping powder. As you dump your charge from the start point, tap the handle with your finger as you slowly advance the handle. This method is much faster and will compress or settle the powder as well as a 30" drop tube. Try it and measure the powder stand to proove the point. RCBS type measures don't seem to work as well for some reason but perhaps I have not learned how to use them.
