There is a local guy that wants to sell his Dillon 550. He's got two caliber conversions, two powder measures, and a Dillon scale. I would like to buy it but don't know what would be a fair price to offer him. It all appears well used but in good condition. I've been wanting a progressive for a while, maybe this one will be the right deal.

hard to say i just bought one a few months back for 350.00 but it had no conversions or extra powder measure, or scale, and i had to drive two and a half hours one way to get it,
i would say 400.00 to 450.00??

a new RL550b is 439.00 but, used dillons do hold their value, so whatever you can get it for you can probably get your money back if you ever want to sell

hope this helps

I would price all the parts on the Dillon web site and pay no more than 75% of new.
Keep in mind also when buying used you don't pay shipping and don't get new in box feeling.

Or just offer one or two hundred and see if he bites.

A rough estimate of what he has for sale is $650 new. You can goto the Dillon site and get an exact value if you so choose.

I would let him make the offer and go from there. If, as the poster directly above me states, you can get it for <75% of the new value, you are getting a deal.

Dillon owners seldom sell their presses; did he ever even use it? If not, he probably doesn't know its true value.

I agree 75% of the full price is a good deal if loader is in good shape.

If it includes all the usual parts that comes with them new, I would pay about $475 for it.

If it is missing anything, some of those small parts can add up quickly. Dillon does not warrantee lost or missing parts.

I have seen Ebay idiots pay MORE than retail for used Dillon equipment. It holds it's value well. Like others have said, if you can buy for 75%, It's a pretty good deal. If he wants more, I would buy new.
