hi guys,i'm shaving a little lead when seating my boolits.i can bell the case mouth out far but the seater die seems to tight.the seater die is .480 at the first .50 of the die then it goes to.479.the cyl. on my revolver are .481,does'nt this seem tight.

i have a lyman seater for 357 like that. it resizes the case as it goes in and shaves the bullet. i replaced it with a rcbs and its much bigger inside. no more problems. i called lyman and gave them the dia. and they said to send it in and they will replace it.-phil

You might look at adjusting the die. It sounds like it's starting to crimp before it's finished seating the bullet.

Your revolver will tell you whether or not your cases are sized correctly. As long as you can insert the cartridges easily you're OK.

Try seating and crimping in separate operations. You might get good results that way.

thanks for the reply guys.yeah i seat and crimp in 2 different steps,i adjusted the die 1/2 inch up from the crimp with the same result.i'm going to call rcbs on monday and see if they will exchange it.
