Is there a readily available source for en-bloc clips for the M1 Garand?

They seem to be common and everywhere. Common at gun shows. If you enter "m1 garand clip" in a google search you will end up with a lot of hits.

A number of years ago I purchased a box of clips from Cheaper Than Dirt. They were Chinese made and not as good quality as GI clips but they work. The cost at the time seemed unbelievably cheap. You might check with them maybe they still have some.

Be wary of IMI manufactured clips. Years ago, I bought 100 of them, and their lack of consistant tension have caused many feeding problems.

SACROINC.COM are listing original Garand clips in the Mil Surp magazine October edition. Twice they have supplied Carcano clips to me in NZ with good service.

Try to get genuine GI surplus. Th only problem I ever had with a Garand was due to a commercial en bloc clip. Military ones seem to be fine. I have also had zero problems with the Greek ones that the CMP Greek surplus ammo comes in.

I think JeffinNZ was referring to SARCOINC.COM

They are still made by AEC (Aggressive Engineering) in California... most of the new ones you see at gun shows have AEC stamped on the bottoms. They don't sell direct, and don't sell small quantities... Last time I checked, I think 1,000 en bloc clips would cost about $.55 each....

Some on eBay, too....

The CMP sells USGI spec. clips. $20 for a package of 25. I ordered 2 packages with my new M1 and I'm very pleased with their quality. I've read some bad reports on the cheap overseas knock offs.

I still recall how tough the metal was on the surplus M-1 clips back in the `80`s when myself and about 5 other guys cut them down and bent new lips on them to make 5 shot clips and 2 shot clips for competition use. I believe our final number was 200 we altered, all the clips worked without a bobble.Robert

http://www.ammogarand.com/

These guys usually have plenty from many different manufacturers.

Also not a bad source for surplus ammo (when they have it on sale).
