Looking for a mold & manufacturer suggestion.

I would like to find a traditional single lube groove, flat-bottom, SWC design for the .40 that will have at least 4 cavities in the mold.

Background:

For my .40 S&W loads, I have been using the Lee TL401-175-SWC tumble lube SWC design:

Now I've moved to a traditional sizing/lubing approach and would like to find a traditional mold instead of tumble lube.

Lee doesn't make a traditional lube groove, flat bottomed SWC design, and the Lee bevel base version is only a 2-cavity mold.

I am very partial my to my H&G #68 knockoff (200 gr LSWC MP mold) in .45 ACP, and if I could find a similar profile in .40, I'd be delighted.

I took a look at the H&G chart on http://hgmould.gunloads.com and see it lists:

#332-.40 Caliber,.40 S&W, 10mm. 175 grains. A .40 caliber version of #68. Available in plain base or bevel base.

FWIW, I will never purchase another Lyman mould again with its undersized cherry madness.

Any suggestions?

If not, he can make you one that is exactly what you want.

I use the Lee 145 SWC---casts, loads, & shoots just fine, but it is a dual cavity...

I've been very happy with the Lee 175 TC design, though it differs from your specs in not having the SWC shoulder and in being bevel-based. If it hadn't shot so darn well, I would have moved on to something more akin to your specs--but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. All of the Lee autopistol TC designs I have are EXCELLENT performers--9mm, 40/10mm, and 45 ACP.

I just got the LEE 175gr SWC mold and my lyman 4500 lubes them ok with TAC#1 as long as its warm. It helps if the bullets are warm too (120-ish degrees)

I really wish they made that 145gr mold in a 6cav, my compensated barrel really likes the lighter bullets

the lee traditional lube groove 175 is my choice. I shoot it in .40 and 10mm with great results.

The Lee 175gr TC in a 6 cavity is one of the fastest molds to use I have had. The #22 RCBS pot is empty in no time. They shoot good too.

You do know you can run a tumble lube boolit thru a luber/sizer?

Yes, it does. I might try one of their 5-cavity molds. Thanks. Never knew about this vendor.

Accurate molds are great quality, amazingly fast delivery times and the price is very reasonable for what you are getting.
