View Full Version : Mr. Bill is on death row

Mr. Bill (AKA Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman), my gun room cat, is facing the firing squad.

X101Airborne was very helpful and generous in sending me a nice batch of 55 gr. boolits to use in one of my hair brained ideas. I lubed 'em up with alox, spread 'em out on wax paper on a baking sheet and set 'em on the window sill to dry.

I came in the gun room yesterday to find the pan upside down on the floor and the boolits scattered all over creation. Now, all my newly lubed boolits are covered in carpet fuzz and cat hair.

I've got to immerse them in thinner to dissolve the alox and try to separate out all that fuzz and cat hair and then relube them. It's a good thing Janet was here when I discovered this. Mr. Bill might have gone MIA.[smilie=1:

Just load them up. The cat hair and carpet fuzz won't harm the bore of your barrel and the cat hair will only stink a little when it burns off...

He was just trying to help ya!

Jim, I would load them as they are then use them to try and re-attach the hair on the boolit to the cat.

LOL

I'm a dog kinda person:kidding:

Mr. Bill really is a good cat. He just likes to get up on the wide sill in the window of my gun room so he can look outside. My guess is that he didn't realize the pan was not anchored and when he jumped up, he landed on it and everything went south.

Ain't no way I'm gonna load those boolits with all that fuzz and hair on 'em. I'm gonna clean 'em and relube 'em.

I have 3 cats and I have to be very careful to keep them out of my reloading room/office. One especially likes to smack around anything that will roll, and he has "stumbled upon" boolits that had been tumbled lubed and laid out to dry. I love my cats but they are like toddlers when they get into all the nooks and crannies of my cramped reloading room and start "exploring."

You never know, Hair patching may be the next big thing!

I am allergic to cats or I would have some (we have tried a few varieties and I seem to be allergic to the whole species).

Is it possible that he may be emotionally disturbed by your avitar and did this as a cry for help. Perhaps counseling, mental evaluation?
If this issue is ignored it may escelate into more serious infractions! If not delt with through the proper channels with trained professionals you could be creating a Kittydomers.

I think the wind blew them onto the floor.

Our cats have proven to be completely incapable of distinguishing between what is important to them and what is important to me. Gun room door stays closed.

Yep, keep the pets out. My old dog Bud once got into a bag of granulated bees wax ( the tasty yellow kind ). Luckily I caught it early as he was still just chewing it.

Well that's your problem Jim, the sill is to dam wide, trim it down a little
or hobble the critter. Let him shoot Em and see how he likes it.

I think he knew your boolits need to be a slightly larger diameter & was just trying to help.

That fur stuck to the lube is what fly tiers call dubbing!

I'm gonna dub his backside if I catch him up there again.

Well at least he didn't decide the tray of lubed boolits was a new form of cat litter......

We're down to just one cat and one dog now, which is weird, we've had multiple cats for the most part and two dogs for a long time too. I love the cat we have now, best one we ever had, but all my loading stuff is out in the barn and he never goes outside. I threaten to cook him up Szechuan style whenever he gets out of line though. I don't think he believes me anymore.

Lay off. You left them in play. Fun for you, fun for him. Just think about the great story he gave you to tell!

But then again, I am not the one to clean these up. :)

Mr. Bill (AKA Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman), my gun room cat,

You named your cat after a yankee general??!!??

Geez, kitties. I built a window sill seat for one of the living room windows out of plywood wrapped in a scrap of leftover carpet a few days ago. The one that insists that is HIS viewing perch was starting to scratch the fresh paint on the sill, so I got enlisted in the project. All they do in the gun room is dub-up the office chairs, but then again I don't leave them in there unsupervised either.

Just be thankful he didnt pee on your brass or use your tumbler for a litter box...Don't ask.

I saw my daughter's cat jump into and begin a squat in a bucket of tumbling media. I snatched him up and threw him out before he got started. Reloading (walk in) closet now stays closed when I'm not using it.

HA HA! Hare's Ear-pattern cast boolits, just the thing for fast currents and deep pockets.

As of yesterday afternoon, the gun room door is closed if I'm not in it.

I have lost more than a few pieces of brass to cat pee.

C-A-T , ain't that shorthand for TARGET ?

I actually had a cat named Target. What else are you going to name a cat with a big orange dot on its forehead?

She took care of a lot of mice and snakes around here.
