Now that colder weather is here it's time to be on the lookout for tin. I was lighting the neighbor lady's gas furnace and she showed me a curiosity. What had been a metal dish or ashtray had melted on top of her woodstove and dripped onto the floor. I told her it was probably Pewter and I would be happy to dispose of it for her. Only a half pound but I've got my eye out for bigger game now.

My former sister-in-law considered herself a cook and an antique expert. Wrong on both counts. She had spent a couple hundred bucks on an antique pewter tray. Maybe George Washington got his breakfast served on it.
Well she put into her oven at 400 degrees to warm up bread or something else. When it can time to serve the, what ever it was, the food was resting on the racks in the oven and the pewter tray had disappeared. Well, I got a pound and a half of pewter to sweeten up my wheel weight alloy.
