I purchased a 3 cavity, 38/357 Accurate Mold ( Brass ) from Bardo.
Specifically , it is the 360158 V , flat point.
The mold arrived today.
This is a smooth running piece of machinery !

i shoot a design super similar to that one with a slightly smaller meplat.
it's my grundle load boolit.
i have somewhere between 2,500 and 3,000 on the shelf [okay in the big box] all the time
it works in the levergun and the revolvers equally so i use it for bout everything.

OH man I can't wait. Bruce at BRP *was* one of my favorite mold makers and I'm tired of waiting over a year for GB's so I thought I'd "take a chance" with Tom at Accurate Molds.

I've heard NOTHING but good about them and can't wait to get my hands on a .338 mold I've ordered from him.........

NICE MOLD MAN!

i don't think you are taking much of a chance either.
you pretty much order what you want, and get what you order.

How does that boolit work in a 357 case in the Marlin?

Ben

Couldn't tell you.

My rifle won't shoot a 357 mag., it is 38 Spec. only.

Great looking bullet Ben.

Ay idea why the cuts are on the side of the mould? I am speaking of the scallop cut about where the handle screw would be.

I don't think that it has always been there ? ?

No, I'm not certain why.

I just figured it was sort of a " signature " of the Accurate mold ?

I believe Tom puts the 'scallop' to help prevent warping if the blocks get overheated. I believe (but can't confirm) that he only puts them on his brass moulds, and then only on the 3 & 4 cavity ones.

Correct, one of numerous refinements in the past couple of years, including the sprue plate pivot bolt setscrew (goes up through the bottom and abuts the pivot bolt), the elimination of the shoulder bolt, deeper vent lines, "breaking" of the mould half edges under the sprue plate, and the sprue plate trough option. There was a warpage issue with them if you liked to cast really hot, I killed one of his 3-banger .38 moulds that way. I was more careful with the other 3-bangers I have of his and haven't had the problem, but that's good insurance. If I had the scratch I'd have about ten more of those brass beauties.

Tom, if you're out there, I'd like to recommend another refinement OPTION for a fee: Mill some fairly deep vent lines on the top of the blocks, and also give an option to delete the vent lines on the block faces.

BTW Ben, the boolits look nice, but the alignment socket in the pic looks terrible, like either shipping damage or somebody used the crud out of it with some bubba'd handles.

Gear:

Yes, you're correct.

When I received this particular mold from the seller, I did so on a " Try before you buy " arrangement.

I had problems with mold alignment at 1st., had to work an hour or so to get everything in proper alignment. The holes don't look so nice...but....the mold lines up and closes well now.

that is a very cool looking bullet and from the looks and your target I bet it is very accurate and Tom is my favorite mold maker. There has to be a very good reason for me not to use his work first
