I keep seeing posts about the desirable shooting abilities of the .358 Winchester using boolits. I have an older Winchester Model 94 AE in .356 Winchester that uses the same reloading dies as the .358 Winchester, but a different shellholder since the .356 WIN is a rimmed case. My question is has anybody shot boolits in the Winchester 94 in .356 and what molds work well in it? Will the RCBS 35-200-FN GC fit and will it shoot as well as it does in the .358 WIN rifles? :coffee:

Should work the same since they're very close but, the only way to know for sure is by trying. I think it will work fine with just a little tinkering.

My '94 in .356 just adores the Saeco 245 grain flat pt gc bullets, hits hard as well.

I have a 356 W on a Marlin 336, courtesy of Jesse Occumpaugh's fine rebore & rechamber.

I just use the RCBS 200 FN for the Remington 35 at close to 2000fps and it is a good deer killer with my alloy that mushrooms the nose nicely if it hits bone. I used only j-bullets in my Big Bore when I had it.

I use an "m" die and a fcd die with common 358 W Lee dies for reloading. Of course I could up the velocity , but Why? Elk, maybe.

I just came across this thread while looking for something else, and I am, right now, finishing up reloading for the 356 Win to use at this saturday's silhouette shoot. I'll be using it for the 150m geese. My favorite load is 25gr of I4227 with the Lyman 358009 282gr bullet sized .359", cartridge oal is 2.563". This is for a Winchester 94AE. All rounds are loaded single shot for the match. Excellent accuracy with 356 Win brass and 358 Win brass( no problem with extraction ), and even with the mixed brass, 20 to 30 rounds make a 2" hole at 150m. #2 alloy. Lyman 358318 247gr bullet with 20gr of 2400, or 32gr of 3031 also shoot great.
