Awhile back, there were some posts on different stand that people have made to hold the microscope of a Lee hardness tester.I tried to search it,but for some reason, the search is not working for me.Can some direct me in the right direction?

I mounted my Lee scope into a gutted kids toy micro-scope. Easy to adjust and steady.

Here's photo's of mine. I removed the top lens as it unscrewed and drilled a hole through the bottom the same size as the Lee Mic. Duct tape was wrpped aroung the Lee Mic to bring it to size at the top to fit the tube. Modeling clay is used to hold the bullet on the card which makes movent easy and precise under the Mic. A table light is used off the side for illumination. The smooth and easy up/down adjustment of the scope makes the Lee tool easy, quick and consistent in use.

I stick mine in a 45ACP size die in my press. Run the bullet up with the ram. Works great.

mehavey, I love your idea and i'm gonna borrow it. It's amazing how much a guy shakes when trying to hold that 20x scope still, thanks. JW

I was amazed at how precisely one could adjust and keep exact focus using the Styrofoam friction, and how using the bottlecap base permitted moving the bullet indent into exactly the right position -- reading -- then rotating 90° and reading again for an average.

Whole thing takes less time to set up and read than it takes to type it out.

Excellent!!! Just what I was looking for! Couldn't be less expensive or easier to use.

Thank you.

A great Idea Larry.
A month ago, my homemade stand fell to the floor and the wood broke with the grain at the hole for the Lee scope. So for the last month, I've been scouring the thrift stores for a plastic toy microscope...I found one today and plan on working on it in the next day or so, I'll post some photos.

Oh, at one antique shop, I found the coolest real Microscope, made by Bausch & Lomb, it looks fairly old, I didn't take down any numbers, I should have, anyway a quick search on the google images, the one in the link below is fairly close, but either the brass tube was really tarnished or painted or it wasn't brass, but it was shaped just like this $800 one, with the two lower lenses. Anyway, the antique store have $150 on it and the owner showing me it said he could move on the price, since I was thinking of a child's toy, I told him, "honestly, I don't want to pay even $50 for what I plan on using it for". He said, "whatever, it's yours for $75 if you want it." Now I'm kinda thinking ...is that something I want ???

What I have done is take a plywood about 6"x6"x1/2" and drill a hole for a 1/4" carriage bolt that is about 4" to5"that is threaded all the way and then slid it in your hole all the way and if you like put something to raise up the plywood that it will sit level because the bolt will not let it sit flat on the table and then take a corner brace and 2 palnuts one on the bottom of the brace and one above it after you put it on with it being a L on the bolt and then you can clip the mag on the top of the L and then you can adjust it to where you want it.First the bolt adjustment where it is close to where it is almost clear and then just move the mag where it is.it is a cheap way that i found to make it work for me and i had the same problem as others before to stop from shaken the mag also.

I didn't have the time to build one, so I just bought this off of Ebay. It works wonderfully!

Thanks for the tip FatElvis... I just got my Lee hardness tester today and tried it out and had issues chasing the indent with the scope. I saw your post and looked at EBay, then went to YouTube and saw the video... bottom line... I won the bid on the BHN holder on EBAY... thanks again for the heads up.

Glad I could help.
It works wonderfully. Holds the magnifier and light rock-steady as you move the bullet around and measure the indent.
