Aha ! I've always wondered about the plethora of models from Smith and Wesson.....and this chart helps. I realize that it is an old chart, but it helps nonetheless.

Thats neat. I too have always been confused by the model number and model name deal. That being said, Ill take a 19, 29 and a 41

When I was Rangemaster for our department between 1977 and 1979, I knew every S&W model made up to that time. One of those charts was on our range house wall, too.

After Bangor Punta sold S&W, they started the "gun a month" routine and I lost track of all the new models. Off the top of my head, I've got Model 10, 19's, 17's, 14, 57, 66, 67, 629, 39, 59's, 639, 1006, 4006's. There may be a couple of others, but without going through the gun safes, that's all I can recall.
