I bought a MP 431-256 from the classifieds here last week. I got to use it today for the first time. The shiny brass blocks with the black pins and inserts is a thing of beauty and a joy to use. Luckily it fit right on my RCBS handles. After preheating the mold on a hot plate, it only took a couple of pours to get nice wrinkle free boolits. Usually the boolits just slipped off the pins, but had to give a gentle tap a couple of times for them to slide free. I used a mix if 50% WW and 50% soft lead of unknown origin. Boolits were air cooled, sized to .431 and lubed with Jake's Scarlet Cerasin.

While I had the furnace fired up, my kid wanted me to make him some decoy weights. He told me approximately how big they should be and that they should be J shaped I took a forstner bit to a block of wood and this is what I came up with. Hope they work for him. Dale

Methinks the custom mould makes a neater product :)

Looks like some fun goofing off time.

I'm thinking that zinc wheel weights would make pretty good weights for decoys and save the lead for boolits :)
