Hello all,

My Dad and I cast some ingots from roofing lead and some WW. This lead has a hardness of about 9 to 9.5 (measured with our Cabine Tree tester - thanks Jim!)

In order to increase its hardness we want to know how much Linotype to add. Am I correct in assuming that a 50-50 ratio will result in a hardness of 15 or 16? That is the 9 from the ingots plus 22 from the Linotype divided by 2?

Thanks in advance for any insight,

Mark and Jon

look for the lead alloy calculator sticky at the top.

Within the calc you will find the formula for hardness.

If you know how much roof lead and WW you mixed together you can adjust the calculator to see how much lino you need.

Thanks I'll give that a try.

and the calculator doesn't take into account if you water drop your boolits which will increase hardness, if you have antimony in the mix.
