FN in 308 caliber, are they any good.
The one I am looking at has been sporterized and has a williams peep sight.
Has anyone owned one, what is the good and bad????

They are fine rifles. Pretty much anything based on a 98 Mauser is awesome.

Thanks.I was thinking by the description that it was originally a military.
They are just wanting 160 bucks for it, sooo I was thinking if it wasn't junk, I might have a friend pick it up and bring it up in the spring.

For that price I wouldn't worry about scuffing it up in the boat or on a wheeler.

If it has a thumb cut on the left side of the receiver to allow easier access when using a charger strip it is most likely military.

If it does not have the relief and is marked " FN action Made in Belgium" it is most likely a Sears Model 50 or so ... and one of the most desirable commercial Mauser actions.
