A Union Switch and Signal 1911A1 is one of the more rare and valuable GI 45s. First thing to do is go online and hunt up the serial number range that was assigned to US&S to make certain the slide and frame are both correct. It was not uncommon for slides and frames to be mismatched while still in Army control. Other parts dont matter that much.

You can then check GunBoker or one of the other auction to see what they are selling for. You will be suprised how much that pistol is worth if it is all correct.

It has been years since I did price checking on these things, so I won't put a number here as it would be wrong.

Good find Joe! Even if the numbers dont match, it is still a valuable gun, and a great piece of Americana!

No real idea, but know that they are very rare. Given that I have seen very ordinary
original GI 1911s offered for $2000+ anything north of $4000 would not surprise me
but I sure do not know.
