It it the early youth season here in PA. Me and my son went out tonight and he shot a nice doe. He used an H&R in 357 Max. He loaded up his own ammo for this season. He is loading a 180 grain LFNGC over a max load of H110. The shot was about 100 yards.

Congratulations to your son!

He has accomplished something many of his generation will never have the knowledge of how to do it.

Give him a 'Thanks you and hats off' for me please. It is a rare young man to take the time, skill and effort to to learn those skills.

Will do Murphy! He is definetly not your average kid. He is 13 now soon to be 14 and hunts with a longbow in archery season, a 62 caliber smoothbore flinter in muzzleloader season and loads his own ammo for the regular rifle season.

It's very satisfying when your sons take a deer. My two are too old to partake in our youth season now, but they did for several years and each killed a few.

Congratulations to the young man, a fine animal taken in fair chase with a good weapon is about as good as it gets.

I don't see how it could get any better than that!

looks a little wet there.
that will be some good eating.
hopefully he feels a little extra pride in doing the loading himself.
maybe he will take the next step and use a boolit he makes himself.

Well done to both of you sirs. It seems as his interest has gone in the direction of nostaglia. That is very fine indeed. He will become more successful in hunting with experience. Now, he will have to venture in the art of venison cuisine to tantalize his palate.:2_high5:

Congratulations on a good hunt so far and your enthusiasm transfer to the younger generation. We all need to introduce the fine art of shooting and hunting to the younger generation like you are doing. Complete with passing on the hobby of reloading and casting your own boolits, the hobby of using oddball and different weapons that take more effort to be successful with in the field and on the range. And we all need to remember the young ladies also. And teach them to enjoy the hunt and field time also with us "older" folks. Very good job! :D [smilie=s:
