I've been loading my 357 158 grain swc I made with a OAL of 1.570 from the Modern reloading second edition . Today I was looking at my sheets from the handloads. com on 158 gr swc and they say 1.58. My bullets are made from the lee TL 358-158-swc and 358-158-RF. I"m using Unique at 7.0 grain.

The .01 of an inch shouldn't make any difference. Depending on your reloading setup, there will probably be that much variance on OAL anyway from play in the system and mixed headstamp brass. I generally load as long as I can for each application. For my rifle, it cannot be over 1.59. Depending on the boolit, it could be shorter.

Are you crimping in the crimp groove?

I just looked up your load in Hornady's 7th edition. You are way over their max listed load of 5.3gr of Unique.

Thanks for the info. The alliant book calls for 6.0 max. for 357 158 gr SWC and the book max for 38+P 158 gr swc is 5.2 I've worked myself up to 7.0 with no over pressure and getting a nice accurate grouping out of a smith 3 inch K frame. It also burns a lot cleaner and feels like a nice light to medium load.
