View Full Version : c358-180rf Re-Run?

Hey all,

I've been lurking on here trying to soak up all the knowledge...and at times all the b.s. I can from everyone for awhile now. I tried to post on the classified section, but it won't let me, but I was wondering if anyone had an extra c358-180rf group buy mold that they didn't need anymore and wouldn't mind selling. If that doesn't work, I was wondering if there was sufficient interest in running this mold again. From looking at the past posts, it sounded like this one might be re-run this summer sometime, and I just wanted to know if that was true or not. Thanks.

gotta have the obligatory 25 posts in order to get on the classifieds...

I'd be up for a .360x180 Flat Nose....

Thanks for the info Blammer. I think it would probably benefit everybody in the long run to just run this mold again rather than looking for a used one. I just picked up a Marlin 1894c when I was on leave last weekend, and am looking for some different stuff to feed it. I'm hoping that the keith 357 group buy will run through the action with mag brass, if not I will use 38 spec. brass. I've been over at greybeards site for a long time, so I didn't have a clue about the min. number of posts like there is here. I think I'll stick around though...there is ALOT to learn here. I wasn't sure if there would be enough people who want this mold, as it looks to have been run at least twice that I can tell, and the other .35 cal molds as of late. I guess you can't have too many molds though right?

The Keith will be way too long for your 1894C in mag brass. You can modify the cartridge stop to allow up to .100 inch longer OAL, but the Keith would be on the edge of that in mag brass.

On the other hand, a C358-180-RF from the first group buy runs great in my 1894C. I might just come off my wallet if this runs again.

Well, I guess I will just use 38 special brass, and a cleaning brush with the keith boolit. I also have the Lee 158 rnfp that I can use for plinking rounds for right now. I really like the sounds of the 180gr. rf for serious use though. Looks like there is 5 so far in just a few hours. I don't know too much about how to run these group buys, so I would most likely have to defer to someone that has more of a "presence" on the site to honcho this.

JFYI.....The last time this boolit was run there were 60 molds delivered. It is a great 357 max boolit I can tell you that much..... I bet it would make the 25 mark again if you ran it for a couple of months.....good luck MR. HONCHO:-D

I remember some guys posting that they wouldn't do business on a group buy unless the honcho had at least a couple hundred posts on the site. No sense in somebody missing out on a buy because the honcho is new.

You just never know till you try...lay it all out in front of the members and speak it the way it is........and let them decide.

I wasn't here for a real long time when I jumped into the honcho seat. Giver er' a whirl....and see, maybe a "FEELER" thread would tell you for sure????????????

welcome to board by the way. If you need some boolits from one of these molds just holler, and i can proably help you with that:-D

Thanks for the welcome:-D . I might just have to take you up on the boolit deal, but it will have to wait a couple months. I'm doing a stateside deployment with my nat'l. guard unit, and don't get any time to experiment with loads unless I'm on leave. I also don't have a size die, or gas checks, as all I've used to this point are plain base boolits. I am thinking that I might use that little marlin for deer in Michigan this year at my wife's family's place. If that doesn't work out, I might just use my pistol, or handi rifle. If there is more interest over the next week or so, I will pick your brain, and a couple other guy's brains about what it takes to honcho a group buy if you don't mind.

I found out Friday, although this is a GC design, it shot great in my .38 Special, with 2.4 gr. Bullseye. This was without gascheck.

I have a mould out of both runs
One drops bullets a little heavyer ( can't remember witch is witch )
Both shoot Great

I am using them in the 35 wellen for plinking
Lately I have been casting them out of 3 parts range lead / 1 part WW and water droping them

I bought a mould for a freind that is running them out of his 35 Rem

A great bullet

How many people do you normally wait to show interest before starting a group buy? We're at 6 now. Sorry about not getting on here sooner, the computer at home broke, and I can only get on it when I'm at work, which is every third day.

If your gun is an 1894C, they'll feed and function perfectly.

ONE...:Fire:  [smilie=1:

Seriously, I think you could make the quota in a two month frame, but that is just my opinion. This is a great boolit in my max, and my 357 revolvers seem to like the few limited tests I have done with it.

I'm still here and working on it. If I have done my homework right, I believe that I have got the workings of this group buy figured out. Lar45, and 357max have been a big help in teaching me a few things about running a buy, as well as the boolit itself. I think that I am going to just re-run the mold as has been done the past 3 times, rather than doing any minor tweaking to it.

HOWEVER.....I am on doing stuff with the military right now that may cause some hassle when trying to collect people's money, or deliver the molds on time. So, for right now, I think I will defer to jdhenry to honcho it. That way I can also pick up some more pointers/learn some more along the way.

JDhenry, email coming your way.

O.K, Talked to lar45 and decided to run this group buy as a flat bottom.

He is out of town for the week, and when he gets back he is going to work on the new drawing for the flat bottom boolit. as soon as I have the drawing I will open a new group buy on it..

Just wondering how many "I'M IN" We can get now??????

I'd prefer plain base.

cattleskinner

I want both. The way I figure, if I can get a gascheck mold design, it isn't too hard to get a reamer to get rid of the gc portion of a couple of cavities and then have the best of both worlds.

I defered to jdhenry to honcho this deal. Last time I knew, he was waiting on Lar45 to get back from the week long vacation he went on to talk over a few more things with him before the buy was started up.

Your right on the money. I'm waiting to hear from Lar45. But I have been without a puter for about a week :( just bought a new one about 2 hours ago:), and had to replace my well water system . So I have been super busy. As soon as I hear something I'll let you all know.
