What media works best in a Thumbler's tumbler? I have an AR 12 model.

Thanks,
Rich

the same media that works in every other tumbler...

The advantage to the thumblers tumbler is you can do wet tumbling, using pins, shot, or a number of other media types. But usually people just use corncob in them.

^^ what he said!

Harbor Freight has 25# boxes of course walnut media for $22 if anyone cares. Just picked up a box for myself last week, cheaper than most places.

I'm wanting to try the SS pins out though, they look promising.

Pro tip: if you look in the phone book and find a place that sells blasting and finishing media, you can usually get media in different grades and grain size, for about .40c/lb so a 40lb bag runs about $16. I usually use the 20-40 grit, it's a bit finer than the usual tumbling media (normal is 12-20), it's nice because it doesn't tend to get stuck in flash holes.

Stainless Steel Media is the best. Cleans the primer pockets better then new!!

You won't need the full 5lbs but I'd get it so you have some extra. Probably just 3lbs.

I have the same model, I use it with 5lbs of stainless pins, a shot of Dawn and about a tsp of lemishine, makes old range brass look brand new in about 4 hours.

I like media small enough to clean primer pocket and not get stuck in flash hole.

Please keep in mind that this tumbler is a rock tumbler and works best with wet tumbling, stainless steel pins work best, I have the exact same model. It will not work well with dry media.
