Ok I'm officially on strike!

I will no longer trim my beard or cut my hair until I get a deer!
I hope I don't get a 3 yr dry spell like I did 6yrs ago.

Yep, It's final, that's what I'm going to do and you can't stop me.

If I don't get one this year, I may look like ZZ top next year.

I wonder if my wife will be able to stand me. Oh well.

Muzzleloader season is over with, waiting on Nov 19 for rifle season to start.

I feel for you. By this time last year, I had three between muzzle loader and an early season they have in a special unit here. This year, just didn'thave as much time and didn't prep as well, but it's real unusual for me not to get at least one during muzzle loader.

Our regular season is in December, so now I gotta freeze to do it. I really like early seasons.

Be careful on that beard promise. I had some surgery so couldn't shave for six weeks. I liked the beard so much I never looked back.

It is the season for a beard. My brother lives down in Jacksonville Florida now and still grows his deer season beard, even though he doesnt hunt anyone. My wife hates beard season but always hates it when I shave.....go figure

Iffn you don't get one in rifle season, your wife may go out night-jackin to get one for you to get you to shave...Ya might just want to leave the spotlight and gun in an easily accessible place as a hint in the unlikely event of that happening.

If I started growing one now, it might be slightly visible by next hunting season.

I havent shaved for 24 yrs now. Use the clippers every 2 or 3 weeks, but no shaving. I once let it go for a year, got tired of the hitch hikers. I already have one deer down, muzzle loader buck. Store bought stuff, plastic wrapped jword.

that not shaving can be a dangerous world to step into the last time I shaved was 11-3-77 the day I walked away from the Army. Haven't shaved since, well actually it has been even longer got and infection while in the Army and had a full beard and long hair while in, Drove the old timers nuts, got more attention then a drunk on post. It was so funny when I handed them my buck slip signed by the base medical officer and there was nothing they could do to me but grumble and walk away.

Never tried shaving since, don't want that infection again it was terrible orange scabs and this stinking ooze that came out of them. Yet not a fun day for me or anyone around.

Have had a foot long beard before, since I have gotten older the little ones look at me kind of strange if I let it grow any. It is so funny to hear a little kid say Mom that was Santa wasn't it that just walked by, I don't want him to see me acting up so close to Christmas. I laugh to myself so hard.

We need a picture of that beard to see if you are caring for it right and how much leftovers you are carrying. ha ha

Cut it outside. Don't clog the sink drain with beard hair when you get a deer.

Good hunting,

Blammer I'm on a lease in chester, SC about 12 miles out from the one we went to. I killed a 6 pt last tuesday, Muzzle loader. One of them plastic wrapped thingies. Shaun, my son, killed a piggie with the same concoction.

I've worn my beard for 40 years...

BTW, you look a lot better with than without, just keep it trimmed up...

I've decided to join the cause and go on strike as well. It's been a couple years since I last had a beard.

I couldn't get that much beard if I had started it the year I got married 1960.

I look like a mangey possum when I don't shave. Even then, it still covers up a lot of ugly.

That made me realize I've never seen a possun with mange. If that wouldn't be the ugliest animal ever it would be in the top ten at least.

Why would you want to trim that off you look better with a beard. ha ha
As I stated earlier I have had one for several decades now and nope I would not shave it off for anything or anyone.
By the way what you have is like a couple weeks for me even at my old age. Only difference is mine is more silver/white/gray now and I don't have any, well at least much on top anymore that is really more of an issue than the beard. You can feel every cold breeze very easy when there is no covering on top of the head.

Until me my wife had never even dated someone with a beard. I'm a grizzly UNIX admin, it is almost required to have a beard. I've had one for most of the last 15 years. My older kids still think I look funny with one, my younger ones think I look funny without one.

I shaved it off for the wife a few years ago as she wanted to see what I looked like without it, she then asked me to grow it back. Without it I don't look my age

I'd let my beard grow, but my wife would just pluck a couple out, and the last one, she'd just bend back and forth till it broke off....

Years ago I had gone the season before without killing a deer. I didn't see a deer on opening day so I told everyone I would not shave or drink a beer until I killed 1. Opening day was on Saturday, the following Monday evening a little doe stepped into the path, I shaved and had me a cool one that night. So good luck.

ouch, that's really putting on the penalty, no beer! May have to try that, maybe I'll hunt a bit more. :)

Haven't shaved in a couple of years, current GF would be pretty ticked off if I did. Gets a good trim when I get a haircut, I get a haircut whenever that grey stuff up top gets long enough to comb.
Some folks I knew several years ago don't recognize me with it and that's fine by me!

runfiverun
11-03-2012, 04:55 PM
like i told dawn.
you ain't gonna shoot no deer from the living room.

have fun with the beard.
i grew mine, then cut it into chops, went with the reverse goatee.
done the thin line. grew out a rutherford b. hayes. did the stache to the ears.
went foo, just shaved under the chin line.
no sense having it boring, and the deer might not recognize you from day to day.

Nov 19th is when the season starts up again around here. I plan to be out ALL DAY chasing them.

East of here it's started already but I have no place to hunt or I would!

If I had an extra $300 I would go to SC to hunt! But that's not gonna happen.

It starts the 17th here. I'm ready.
I spent part of the day today double checking zero on half a dozen guns. I saved the best for last, my .308 win savage 99F with the steel buttplate. It's worse than the 12 guage slugs.

2 years ago I decided to let my beard grow for the Fall hunting season, it turned into a goatee. I kept it for the Spring turkey season and tagged out on the 3rd day. Last year goatee again, tagged out again. Goatee going strong as we speak.
