A lot of folks like the H&G #68 200gr SWC. I have a 230-451 4 cavity Truncated Cone NEI that I played with a little in a Kimber I no longer own. They shot OK, but not great - but I think I was mashing them with the taper crimp. .45s are said to be easy to get to shoot.

I will throw a some of the NEI's in the box when I ship. They are ACWW with LBT Blue Soft on them, sized .452".

Will you give us a range report? :-D

For most of my .45 acp shooting lately, I've been using the Magma 200 gr. RNFP, which was originally intended for the .45 Colt. It works so well in the .45 acp that I now only cast this one bullet for both calibers.

Hope this helps.

Sorry to be boring but I've been shooting the Lee 230 gr TC lately. Conventional lube groove but I tumble lube it anyway. Shoots great out of my Springfield 1911 Range Officer.

My Star PD prefers the Lee 230 gr round nose with the tumble lube grooves. It will not feed the TC shaped projectile.

Both get pushed along with 5gr of Bullseye.

I'd like to try that Lyman 200 gr TC, they say it's a proven feeder in almost anything, but I'm happy for now with what I've got goin' on.

Your results will vary of course.

H&G 68 or Lyman 452460 are superb. H&G 68 or clone will be 100% feeder in all modern guns,
a few may object to the shorter 460, but it is usually a touch more accurate.

+1 exact bullet I shoot. I still buy mine from Dardas until I get moved out of town. Cannot cast my own here without retribution. 8(

H&G 68 or a properly dimensioned Lyman 452374. When I shot a shorter truncated cone I could never get %100 feeding. The magazines and pistols are set up for ball. Shorter noses can cause problems. If I had been content to do what I have suggested I believe my opinion of .45 auto reliablility would be much higher than it is, but I was young and dumb and read gun magazines.

My go to right now is the Lee copy of the H&G 68 over 4grs of Red Dot. It runs very well in my 1911's. I played around with the Lee 255 RNFP but had to be loaded short to cycle. It took a lot of tinkering to get to work, but it worked ok. You had to load it in RP cases- it was seated deep and would bulge the thicker brass too much to cycle reliably.

I just cast for the first time today with my new Mihec 4 cavity 452-200 HP. What a BEAUTIFUL mold! I have a pile of them and will be testing them soon- Ill keep ya posted.

Depending upon your 1911 - if you're putting out some serious bucks for accuracy then Bullseye, WW231 and VVN310 and N320 will be your friend with H&G 185 or 200 grain boolit. For jacketed, Nosler & Zero 185 grain will get it done with the above powders also.

white eagle - it almost sounds like you weren't fond of the DW Razorback. If not, I'd be interested in why ?? I have 2 DW's a 9mm and a .45 and mine aren't going anywhere !! enjoy Mike

Hey David for my money if you get the 1911 style the 200gr copy of the #68 or#69 will be fabulous but if you end up with one of the new fancy hi cap polymer guns a lot of them won't cycle that style of bullet that is why Tom made me the 45-200b I have a 3 cavity brass but you have to cast fast if I had to do it over I would get a 4 cavity of something not sure if brass or aluminum. Good luck dude

I've been using the lee 452-200 RF and have had good results with both a 1911 spfld and an XD45 feeds fine in both guns, short O.A.L. of 1.170 but it feeds and shoots just fine. I load them with 7gr. of longshot .

I have 3 molds for my 45, a 200gr Mihec 2 cav that makes beautiful boolits, a 230gr TC 2 cav by lee that feeds in anything I've tried it in and a 6 cavity 200gr Lee SWC, their take on the #68. The 200 Lee SWC gets used most, it casts easily and quickly builds a pile of boolits, plus they are very accurate.
