I've never actually seen it--but I'm pretty sure that is the lead backing on dental film. From what I understand, it's pure, soft lead

I was confused because the "x-ray lead" I had seen was big thin sheets used to line the walls of an x-ray lab.

From my google searching:
Hexalon = radiographic intensifying screens for use in imaging equipment
http://www.trademarkia.com/hexalon-74230479.html

For use in:
Scientific, nautical, surveying, photographic, cinematographic, optical, weighing, measuring, signalling, checking (supervision), life-saving and teaching apparatus and instruments; apparatus and instruments for conducting, switching, transforming, accumulating, regulating or controlling electricity; apparatus for recording, transmission or reproduction of sound or images; magnetic data carriers, recording discs; automatic vending machines and mechanisms for coin operated apparatus; cash registers, calculating machines, data processing equipment and computers; fire extinguishing apparatus.

It's pretty expensive:

Look's like a beast to melt down,Backing is glued to the .10 sheet...So..
I would guess that one would cut it up a bit and drop it in a pot of lead and burn off the paper/glue ?

It's kinda like it has built in flux.
You could roll them up, pack the smelting pot, and throw in a match.

What is the total weight of the stack?
