Anyone use the Lyman 429640 HP mould? Any reports on expansion, penetration, velocity, alloy, etc. ? I am starting a new project, 44 Special wheelgun CB casting/loading. I'm interested in any reports of combinations of alloy, lube, velocity, etc. at 44 Special pressure levels (~13K CUP) and if anyone got any expansion at all out of a 44 Special with this bullet.
Thanks,
Brian

I got a doe 2 years ago with it. 28 yards. DRT. Massive, massive damage to the front shoulder. Mix was about ww alloy- maybe a little softer. 19.0 Grains of 2400. Bullet wt was 262 Gr. The alloy was probably a little too soft as only a small part of the bullet exited. Should be good for .44 spl velocities.

Its shot real well in most of my 44 handguns but to be honest the only game i took with that bullet is a whitetail doe at about 75 yards using that bullet cast at about 5050 ww/pure with a sabot in a muzzleloading inline rifle using 100 grains of fffg. To say it did damage is an understatement. Deer didnt twitch. One of these days ive got to shoot something with a handgun using that bullet. Id bet it would do great on deer.

At 13,000 CUP, that bullet will be limited to about 800 fps of so, and it's difficult to get anything to expand much at that speed. I would start with 40-1. If you are willing to go to higher velocities (and your revolver can handle the pressures), then you can get outstanding performance from that bullet if you get up to 1000 fps or more (again, depending on the alloy it's cast from). I've shot one mulie doe with this bullet from a .44 Magnum (1350 fps) and she collapsed on the spot.
