Anyone know of a good project for garage door opener motors? I have a couple of them I removed from a couple of vintage1960s openers. They are in great condition.

Unfortunatly they are rated for intermittant usage and will burn out in short order on continious useage.

use it and the track to move your target in and out. Put a couple tracks together and youv'e got your target moving out 25' or more all at the push of a button!

Now that's a neat idea!

Use them to haul beer from the fridge to the workbench? (For those times when the better half can think of 100 reasons for her not doing it?)

Or else mount one over the dining room table and use it to haul the casserole dish from one end to the other. Instead of saying "Pass the potatoes, please", just push a button.

That's a really cool idea! Might be more fun to use a catapult!

A shooting gallery like the old ones at the carnival. Mount the "fall over ducks" on the chain
(if yours has that) It would be great for air rifles and the like.

now there's a neat idea. gallery. Use the motor to put them back up. then shoot them down again. no leaving the bench to reset your targets.

Here are a couple of videos of a running man target I built. I used an old drill motor but the pulley and string method works quite well and is light, cheap and simple. If you were making it to haul a target directly towards and away from you, a mount like this ^ would last a lot longer than an I.
