My father wants to start carrying a pa-63. says its light and small enough that he'll actually keep it on him. I know nothing about concealment holsters, as i can't carry concealed.

anyone have any recomendations? He's open to IWB, SOB, paddle, basically anything but shoulder holster he thinks his wardrobe will accomodate.

He doesn't want to do pocket carry, just isn't comfortable with it.

so what say you guys? i heard that a PA-63 will fit any Walther PPK holster, but i'd like to confirm that as well.

thanks!

mike

I thought the PA-63 was the Makarov but I'm no expert here... In the picture below, the lower left is a Bulgarian Makarov and the lower right is a scaled-down Makarov called the PA-64. I have a PA-64 on my carry permit.

I think the PA-63 is a Walther PP, not PPK type pistol. The PP is a bit longer, and might cause some grief with a PPK holster.

Scrounger, I recognize the Makarov, the Firestar, and the PA-64, is that a Star BM in the upper left?

That is correct. Unfortunately the Firestar is no longer with us. One of the dumbest moves I ever made, selling that.

My PP sets in the safe most of the time, so I haven't really looked for much in the way of holsters. If I did carry it, I favor the inside the pants type with a spring clip. They are quick to put on and take off, which means they are more likely to be with you when you need it!

I carry mine in my front pants pocket all the time. No one notices it, and I carry it daily at work. Good bosses, they prefer we go armed at work.

I carry a PA 63 in a cheap IWB at the small of my back. After a few minutes I forget it's even there. The Pa 63 is made in Poland by Radom and shoots the 9MM Mak round. IT IS NOT A MAKAROV and none of the parts will interchange. I used to work for Makarovdotcom and we got that problem all the time. People would buy a PA 63 and order Mak parts and when they wouldn't fit they'd call raising he&&. MDC used to sell a spring kit that would reduce the GOSHAWFUL trigger pull. I don't know whether they still do or not. It's a nice and accurate gun but it stings the hand a little with HP's.

I know that they don't share any parts, (the Makarov and the PA63) but are they basically the same externally??
Here is the rig I carry daily. It is the Russian high cap Mak in a Safariland #27 holster. The holster says BRNG 9MM on it, but the Mak fits in it like it was meant for it!
Maybe the PA63 would also?
