Hi Guys,

I was planning on buying the Carlson's Extended Turkey Choke 12 ga with 0.640" constriction for my Beretta AL390 shotgun.

I plan to use it with 1-1/8 Oz x #4 shot and 9 X "00" Buckshot in a 2-3/4" Hull.

Any of you guys have experience with this choke?

Does it work well with the above loads? Is Carlson brand good?

Thanks for any inputs!!

I have several turkey chokes in various constrictions. The .640 may do well with 1-1/8 #4's, but may not do so well with heavier payloads of the same shot. Something in the .660 range usually works well with heavy loads of number 4's. I would not shoot 00 through a .640 constriction as it is much too tight and will deform the shot badly. Stick to something between improved modified and improved cylinder with buffered loads of hard or plated 00 buck. Some modern steel/lead full chokes will do o.k. with 00 as well, but you will have to experiment with them to find out. Carlson's makes fine choke tubes as most aftermarket manufacturers do.

Thanks Unique Dot....I ordered both the .650 and .640 chokes and plan on testing them with various shot sizes...
