I am getting a metal lathe for my birthday and I already have a 28" long barrel blank (.457"groove, not tapered, not chambered, and not threaded) just waiting to be machined. Now all I need is a large rolling block action to attach it to (BP action is OK, since I will only be shooting BP in it). Any leads?

I have a couple argi contract rifles. These are arsenal reconditioned so not realy just parts guns. They both have about perfect bores in 43 cal. I would trade one off but I value them at about $600.00 each. Not cheap I know but thats what I gotta get. You will prolly find some cheaper shortly.

Bullshop: I wouldn't want to butcher a good gun.

Greg: That is a webpage I have not seen before. Interesting.

I remember when they were sold through the mail for $9.95 or thereabouts. That is the kind of thing that hurts when you get old.

I have a Swed roller action only, in the white, I will sell for 325.00 and I will pay the postage insured upon receipt of PMO. Or you can pay the postage for 300.00.

HARRY O.........There is alot more to creating a good shootable rifle than just turning a barrel onto an old action as I am sure you know. The old RB actions of course DON'T require a FFL, while the newer ones will. If you buy an new action that was never put together as a gun, then you can never sell it, ATF regs etc.

That said, having bought a number of those older RB Remingtons through the years, I have seen many that required so much work so as to make the project not worthwhile. Pin wear, bolt faces, etc. etc.

My suggestion is to go to a gun show and look at as many complete rifles as you
can. The prices are sometimes cheaper for the complete rifle than trying to buy just an action. Pull the butt if you can to see if the #'s match. Spanish, Egyptian, etc all will work.

I shoot all mine with only BP in the "Buffalo" calibers, so other chamberings I could not suggest.

Good luck with your project.

BTW....Treebone Carving sells some nice replacement wood for the old RB's. Plus George is a great guy.
