View Full Version : The Cast Boolits Buck

I decided to try my hand at handgun hunting this year. This is also my first time hunting with boolits. The slug is a Mihec 429640 at 1400fps, sized with a lathesmith star sizer die, and cast with sweetened ACWW. I hit him at 124 yards through both lungs. The slug expanded perfectly and exited. I don't think it could have gone any better!

We're being overrun with them. I'll trade you straight across for some white tail! Haven't hunted those since I was a kid.

Hunting squirrels last night, and scoping the game trails on the private land I hunt.
Counted over 20 by where I am gonna put up the tree stand this year! Gonna try to fill all 5 tags with bow and my 44. Of course I hadn't brought the bow last night-doh

Awesome! I sure loves the antelopes, someday i intend to get one with a pistol, that is something to be proud of! Heck of a shot you made, and with a boolit that looks almost too pretty to shoot.

What powder we're you using ?
Have the same mould and have had good accuracy results with a few, but I'm always interested in what other people are trying .

I'm using 22gr of 296. I need to bump the charge up but am superstitious about doing it right before season.

I hear ya there. I wouldn't mess with success.

That's the next load I planned on working up. I liked 296 under J-words and a commercial cast TC bullet.

Haven't given this nice Mihec bullet a workout with anything but 2400 yet.
