I ordered a mold from Tom @ Accurate last Sunday an it came in the mail today![smilie=w:

This was the fastest mold I have gotten so far. I did a impact slug of my Mosin M39. It has a very worn throat. But I want to see if I can get it to shoot. It is doing about 2.5" at 100 yds right now with surplus steel ammo. So I think I can improve on that!

This is what I came up with. http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=31-205B-D.png

I made it so the base of the boolit will be at the shoulder junction. And for it to fit my throat. I am sizing to 0.314" with my alloy, it came out at 206gr with lube an gc. Looks like I am going to have to go to the range tomorrow. Sorry no pics yet.

Last week I took it to the range and shot some LEE 200gr 0.311" at 50 yds. They shot right at 1.5" with a 12 gr load of unique.

Good looking boolit I've been thinking about something like that for my Finn it has a very long tapered throat, I might need a bit more taper for mine.

Solid design. Lovern style boolits are easier to get good results from.
How are you lubing that rascal?

Rcbs lam II. with a Lyman 0.314" die. I think I am going to have to plug one set of holes on the die so it does not lube so many of the groves. Right now to get it to size like I need, it is lubing the bottom 4 groves. I'd like to do the bottom 3. I won't know till I try if it has too much lube for now. I'm heading out later to try some. I have to go get some small paper plates for targets. I paint them black an then staple them to a white paper backing for contrast. Works awesome for open sites an is cheap.

I'm hoping for a nice plinker that is more accurate than surplus.

Hollow Base 454190 with a crimp groove as an experiment. I have had Tom make me a 454190 HB clone as well. I will post photos once they are completed.

Sorry, not a record yet. Tom got a mold to me in 3 days once! Must've been a stock item. Be sure to let us know how it works for you in your Mosin.

Check this out: an 1880 stop ring designed obsolete bullet that is not in existence anymore. Bullet picture found in a 1914 German bullet catalog - dimensions identified - diagram finalized - sent to Tom at Accurate - it's now a standard catalog mold - mold ordered and delivered in ... in the total process of 12 days.

Introducing ... the Accurate 9.5X47R Bullet Mold!

From all over the United States ... Jspencer - Chuckster - DWS and of course, Tom at Accurate Mold ... A Big Thank You! :)

A 12 day time line (17,280 minutes) to resurrect from a 1914 catalog (September 24th) to make and deliver an obsolete bullet, now a standard catalog mold (October 6th) is amazing! And what a good looking mold

I ordered the mold in 1:20. Heated the pot up to 780 degrees - cast with a 5 second pour - sprue puddle frost in 7 seconds and the results:
* 04 bullets = 209.8 - 209.9 >:(
* 96 bullets = 210.4 - 210.8 :)
The mold was spec'd as a 210gr mold and it casts beautifully. No daylight between the mold cavities - Full cavity fillout - Sharp bases and only takes 1 or 2 light whacks with the stick for the bullets to drop

Mold Rating ... Excellent!

Bullet Dimensions:
0.788 - Length
0.380 - Stop Ring
0.374 - 1st GG Band
0.374 - 2nd GG Band
0.374 - 3rd GG Band
0.375 to 0.376 - Base

The bullets are on the button to the diagram that was sent to Tom with only 0.001 machining tolerance difference for the length, stop ring and the base :)

Bullets? Excellent!

Good to know John Boy! I occasionally run across people looking for these Schuetzen molds. Up to now it was point them to Buffaloe or make them wait for a NOE group buy.

madsenshooter - Accurate is the only mold vendor that has 9.5X47R stop ring bullet. NEI and BACO have many of the other common Schuetzen calibers of which the 9.5X47R is not

That's a nice looking mould! I just ordered a 'special' mould, a 40 cal light weight boolit with a crimp groove for the 400CorBon cartridge. I was going to ask Tom about it, but was a day late, another forum member asked about it, and it was in the catalog the next day! So now I'm waiting for my 40-145C 4 cavity brass mould to arrive! I've yet to see anyone here that's bought a mould from Tom, and gotten a bad one. The man does good work!

MikeS,

Accurate's customer service is GREAT! I received the 40-175C mold on Saturday (1 week after ordering)....Mold produces a nice bullet that makes 1.21 OAL for the 400CorBon. Planning to test fire some this week. I've also got a 40-145C ordered and can't wait to try that bullet as well.

Gee, one whole week after ordering? Tom's slipping, must be getting busy! I hope he stays busy, I wouldn't mind waiting 2 weeks to get a mould, his quality sure is worth it! Did you order a brass mould, or other?

This is fast service in my opinion:
Oct 1st - Ordered
Oct 6th - USPS in my mailbox at noon ... all the way from Utah!
Heck, it takes some folks that amount of time to get their pot up to temperature! :kidding:

Aluminum. I do not like brass molds. I will buy one if I have to, but not my first choice. Too finicky for me.

I got an aluminum mold. I have another aluminum and a brass one that Tom has made and all are top-notch molds.

I have ordered from Tom@Accurate in the past & have found his work & service outstanding & fast. I have also ordered from Mountain molds & found that their work is excellent. But Tom@Accurate now, he must not sleep.

I hear ya on the not sleeping. I emailed him a couple of times at about 1:30 AM an he replied back in a couple of minutes.

Tom if you are reading this, it cast right on what we went with for the tolerance. Now just need to go shoot some more.

Dave, there's always room for Miha, as well as Al from NOE. They do cherry cut moulds, so can do round noses, spire points, etc. something Tom can't do (yet?). But for a boolit design within Tom's capacities, it's great not to have to wait for a group buy to close before getting the mould you want, and with Tom you have much more control over the finished product in regards to size, alloy, etc. I just got another piece of artwork from Tom today! And I would put one of his brass moulds, or one from Mihec or NOE up against the old H&G moulds any day of the week, I think these new moulds are much better in overall castability! (and I'm not saying that the H&G moulds weren't great moulds, I just think these brass ones are better.)
