I was looking over the local classified ads and found a lyman #45 lube sizer for 15 dollars. Would this be a good lube sizer for a beginner ?

$15! jump on it. You can use the current dies with it.

Ok. i was wondering if it was a simple one to use. I know NOTHING about lube sizing other than what I read in My lyman book today. Thanks for the quick reply. I will call him now.

There are 2 on ebay right now asking $69 & $109. You may need to get the wrench for it. Many times those are gone. Do a search on the forum, I'm sure there are some threads about the 45.

Nah, the #45 is absolutely worthless, send it to me for double your money plus shipping. I have been using one for 50 years and I doubt very much if it will last another 50.

any $15 lubesizer is good for the beginner...if it comes with the die and top punch you need.

The great thing about any Lyman/ideal lubesizer is they all take the currently made dies and top punches.

The Lyman 45 wrench, don't worry if it doesn't come with one. A 1/4" socket and small handle ratchet works better than the original chapman wrench anyway. IMHO.

Order top-punches from the Perfessor and customize them for the boolits you are lubing--that's the best way to get the exact top-punch you need.

And yep, forget the wrenches--I use a couple of 1/4" nut-drivers. Gives me a far better feel for how much pressure I'm delivering with the lube.

I love the Lyman 45s.
