it's called came.
just about any of it made before 2 years ago is about as pure as you'll find.
they started adding a little antimony to it recently is what i have heard.
so i'm assuming they changed thier production process.

depends upon the weight , as stated it used to be around pure lead . of note finished product is/has always cost more than raw or scrap materiel ( points to ponder ) for a window glass person it would possibly be a bargain for a boolit maker ..... that weight figure applies heavily !!!

i checked a supply place ...31 stix of double channel weighs 17 pounds ( for shipping anyways ) 17# for $40 isnt worthy for our cause/uses

again as five pointed out it used to be lead , now they also have zinc came etc , here's the site i used ( there are others ) so you can do more research if you desire

I got a box full of the cut-offs and scraps. It looked like a lot, but two shoe boxes worth actually melted down to about 10# or less in ingots. What I got was good, soft lead, though. Just make sure that's what you are getting and price it according to weight rather than length of sticks, that measure can fool you! ;)

I picked up six bundles of virgin came in 4' sticks at a scrap yard, somebody had dropped it and run it over or something, it was pretty messed up. But it was antimonial, the ingots rang when I dropped them on concrete. Was about 65# of came, for $.65/lb and I figured it was a good deal.
