Having been directed towards the .33-40 for a chambering in my schutzen rifle, I have another question.
these are not redily available dies, I have found.

I wonder, if someone would have a set of .30-30 dies, and something in .35. Could you install the .35 expander ball on the stem, and form the cases like this? I am thinking it may need to be a two stage operation, but am unsure about how to go about it at the time. Maybe ream out the neck section of the die?

How bout just fireforming in the chamber. I just fire 30/30 amo in a 375 chamber and viola it comes out a 375. Souldnt be any trouble atol to make a 30/30 a 33/30 or a 32/40 a 33/40 whatever. After that I never size brass for my target rifles so wouldnt need dies. For those I only use fire formed brass and slip fit or breach seated boolits.

I don't know for sure, but I expect you could get dies from CH / 4D. Or bore out the neck section of a 32-40 sizing die 0.010" or so and use an 0.33x? expander. Why not inquire on the ASSRA Board; someone there will know? Or Dale53 maybe??

Ric, I'm not sure where you're going with this. The true .33-40 on the .32-40 case or a 30-30 expanded to 33? At any rate, it's easy to expand 30-30 to .321 or .323
in one step. Us 32 Special shooters do it all the time. I'd recommend taking it up to .330-340 in two steps. .32 and then to .33. OR just blow it out as Bullshop says. As to dies for your 33-40/30-30x.33-40 if you can find 'em you could use Truline Jr. .33 Winchester dies to neck size and prob'ly seat although I haven't checked the seating part as you may be breach seating. If you're not going to size cases, just expand 'em or blow 'em out and have fun. Regards, Woody

Well, considering I'm cheap, er- frugal -er - conservative of funds, I will try just blowing them out, when I get worked up to that point. Thanks for the input!

Ric,

If you just want to neck size ths brass why not shorten a 338 Win sizing die? If I understand correctly you plan to use 30-30 brass as the parent case, this option would not resize the body of the case; but they are cheap.

To blow 30-30's out to .375 Win, I use 6 gr. Red Dot topped with cornmeal and a wax cap to hold it together whilst I get out the door. FWIW Regards, Woody
