Could someone tell me how to use this contraption? I know how to trim the cases for length but I can't figure out how to use the neck turner. I attached the neck trimmer to the shaft and proceeded to ruin a beautiful once fired R-P 30.06 case. I bought the trimmer used and I didn't get the instructions with it.

There are better tools for neck turning if you are serious about doing it,
but a more important question would be--Why you want to do it.
Do you have a concentrisity gauge ? and a ball mike to measure the case wall thickness ? Also is it a stock chamber ? Very little is gained with neck turning,
If your shooting 1/4" groups at 100 you may see a slight difference.
If your shooting 1 1/2" groups I doubt you will notice all the work you will do.
Neck turning for a stock chamber should only remove a slight amount of brass,
I wouldn't go for a nice even removal of metal.
Theres a lot more but I wont post it all, also, sorry if you know all of this.

I ruined a whole batch of 220 swift cases with an otherwise fine rcbs neck turner 20 years ago: made
them nice an even ..but too thin. Learned a valuable lesson. Bought new batch of brass. They work
fine as is.
