I'm looking for load data for the .450 GNR cartridge. I've looked at the Reeder website and around the web a fair amount but have not been able to find much.
I picked up a 15" Encore barrel off fleabay not long ago. Anyone else load for this round or have data for it? Thanks.

IIRC - Gary has his own reloading manual for his cartridges.

He does, but I'm not sure I want to buy a manual for data on just one cartridge.

Reeder claims this cartridge has 5% less power than the .458 Win Mag and has been used to take several Cape Buffalo. You are going to shoot this cartridge in a handgun? Or do you have one of the handgun frames which can then be converted to a carbine?

After someone fired full house factory loads in his .375 H&H barrel Encore, there was a comment about the reason .375 H&H barrels are so inexpensive.

I would rather hold it in my hands, than against my shoulder.

Greg, many thanks for posting the data. I have 3031 and 4198 on hand so I can get started.

As to the cartridge's power and recoil, I'll just have to find out. Yes, it is a pistol (15" w/ brake) but I'm not too worried about the recoil as I own a 458 SOCOM and its recoil isn't too bad. The SOCOM is a 16" barrel. The 450 GNR looks to generate a little bit more power than the SOCOM ,so I don't anticipate the recoil to be unmanageable. In similar bullet weights the GNR is moving the bullet at about 100-200 fps faster than the SOCOM.

BTW - I have no need for this cartridge, it was just an impulse buy. I got the barrel w/mount and rings, Redding dies and a few pieces of primed brass for under 300.

I seem to collect Encore and Contender Barrels. I ran across several of the Reeder Wildcats, I will not buy them without the dies.

They are very interesting! So far have 224 GNR, 440GNR, 310 GNR Magnum, and 7MM GNR.

If a Cape Buffalo ever gets loose in southern Indiana I will be prepared:)

There is something about Encore and Contender Wildcats I can't resist.

I realize it is the opposite of the GNR concept but I wonder what Trail Boss would do?

Let me know how you do with it

Of course you "need" it. We all "need" whatever next strikes our fancy. [smilie=w:

Have to admit my last Encore barrel was mostly useful - a .338 Federal which I intend to use on hogs. Passed on a .375 H&H Squirrel Gun barrel, went with my first Ruger #1. As Don McDowell posted about his neighbor, it's a Tropical rifle in .38-92 Belted Black Powder Express, and maybe sometimes a .375 H&H Magnum. [smilie=s:
