Hi all,

Got some "soft" aluminum from Grainger. 0.005 x 12 x 36 Around $8. Figured it was worth a try.

Anyone used this before ?

Slinger, that sounds like some good stuff. I've made a bunch of checks from 12oz soda and lately some 24oz energy drink cans. Although I haven't measured them I have weighed them and they are about %25 heavier than the usual. These slightly thicker checks work great too, especially on one 45 boolit I have that's casting just a little smaller than the rest of my 45 molds. sounds like your find will work pretty good, I'm going to have to pick some up, im retty sure it will cut nicely with the paper cutter. fcvan,

Come up with a design for a "fence" for the HF paper cutter ? Still fiddeling with mine - I have something that works, but needs refining.

I fastened my HF cutter down. Screwed a 2x2x6 down to my bench ,left about an inch from cutter base and 3/4 higher than the top fence on the cutter. Cut 1x4 on sight angle back. Fasten a metal strap on that angle end and c-clamped to the block. Turning the 1x4 on edge with the clanp makes it adjustable. James

Slinger, the design is between my ears but hasn't made it to the work bench. It will be comprised of aluminum angle stock screwed through the side of the paper cutter with cap screws for adjustment. I just need to get the parts from the hardware store. When finished, there will be pictures and a semi detailed procedure. Frank

Since I am using cut down sheets of litho, 10"x12", I just run them in from the left side and make my cuts that way.

I have a rough fab for a fence out of wood to see if it works. Attached the cutter to a piece of plywood, extra coming off to the right. Cut 2 slots running perpendicular to the blade for bolts to run through. Drilled through a 2x4 for the bolts. Bolts through the 2x4 and through the plywood. 2x4 parallel to the blade. Hard to describe - I'll try to get a pic. Works pretty good !!!

Thanks Mike. Just a quick "mark 1" version - I don't visualize in detail very well - have to putter around with solid pieces and then modify. LOL

Getting a piece of angle iron or aluminum today to replace the 2x4.
For now all I cut is 0.650 for the 45PB. But I made a spacer to re-set the width if I need to cut something else.
I have a 40PB on order,be interesting what width it takes. Have to make a spacer for that also.
