I did a couple of impact slugs on a a couple of rifles. When taking measurements of the slug, do you use the exact same size as the slug for the measurements to have a mold made. I need to get with Accurate molds to have a mold made from my measurements.

I would send them the slug and be sure to tell them what alloy you want to use.

Small changes in alloy composition can change as cast diameters so use this to fine tune the fit.

tomme boy,

What do you mean by "impact slug"? Is that a bullet that has been fired and recovered?

No, you take a case, fill it with lead to just about the top. Insert a slug into the chamber of your gun. Put the lead filled case in the chamber an close the bolt. Now take a rod insert into muzzle. Now hit the rod until you feel it can not compress the slug anymore. Eject the case an slug. It has filled in every place of your throat.

You use this to get measurments to make a mold to fit your chamber.

If you used soft lead for the throat/leade part, you can assume two things: It didn't shrink, and it can't be any bigger than the gun it came out of unless you pounded it so tightly that you swelled (flexed) the barrel.
