Could I use those little paint stIcks you get from wWal-Mart or home depot to stir my melting pot? Just a thought I had.

You could but it probably won't last long.
Wear a good glove cause it will be on fire before you know it.
I use a 3/4 x 3/4 dry oak stick about 2' long.
Works well and lasts a while.

I use the paint stir stick that you use for the 5 gallon buckets of paint. They last a while and are stronger than the gallon sticks.

I've used both, the smaller ones will work but the bigger thicker ones work much longer.

So in short, yes it will work, the bigger ones work better.

I wasn't aware of a shorter one. I use a piece of a old pallet to stir the big pot when making ingots. It just isn't the best for my little ten lb pot. So I will go looking for some paint sticks tonight. Thanks.

I use scraps of oak molding for stirring my 10 lb pot.
