i would like all the pros and cons on how well a inline .54 cal. shoots with sabots useing .50 cal bullets. mmp has a sabot that is .54 and holds a .50 cal bullet. are these inline with a 1-28 twist like the .50 cal inlines are? thanks ahead of time. johnson1942

knight,remington and traditions, and poss. thompson. used ones are for sale now and then.mmp makes sabots for them.

Thompson had them with their scout. Mine has I believe a 1/21(early ones) twist. They also mad them in I believe a 1/38 twist.

Hi johnson1942,
The biggest difference is payload.
The .50 Cal. is good for up to 300gr. boolits, whereas the .54 is good to 450grs.
The variety of boolits for the .50 is very large compared to the .54, and unless your going after Elk (at long range) or similar it's really overkill.
I sell alot of .500 & .515 Round Balls to the .54 Inline shooters for Deer hunting as this is plenty of lead to do the job. And, from what I gather they shoot well using a Sabot.
If i were to get an In-Line, i'd go for a .50.
