Front sight work.....?

I have a uberti cattleman with 7.5" barrel. has the front thin blade barley corn type front sight. I want to make this sight a little wider. does it matter the type of steel i use? I have some thin 1095 knife steel I can cut to shape and add to the side of the existing front sight by epoxy and two small pins. will this work?

Strongly doubt you will need the pins, altho I would probably use solder. I did use epoxy on a temporary scope mount once and thought I'd never get it off again. You'll want to build it up equally on both sides. GW
