I was actually considering asking a similar question to 45 nut's just posted thread on the top 12 molds. However, my question seems to me a little different and I sure don't want to hijack 45's thread so I posted my own. I am wondering what the definitive or stand out molds are for each caliber? In other words when someone thinks of a 44mag mold, what mold do they compare it to? From reading this forum, it seems people consider 358156 for 357, 429421 for 44, 452374 for 45 acp, and 454190 for 45 colt. Not my opinion, just what I have read. I am curious to know if others would agree with this and can add others for other calibers. And if there is more than one for a caliber that is ok too. Here I am not really asking what your favorite molds are, but what is the classic mold for each caliber.

Each of us is likely to have a somewhat different experience. However, I'll "throw my hat in the ring".

.32 S&W L and .32 H&R Mag - our very own group buy 100 gr Keith or the RCBS 98 gr Keith

.38-.357 Lyman's 358477 or H&G #51 (the Keith 358429 for the guns who can use it)

.44 Special and Magnum Lyman Keith 429421 and heavy bullet Lee C430 310 gr RF GC

.45 ACP H&G #68

.45 Colt Lyman Keith 452424 and the heavy is Lee 300 gr RF GC

.454 Casull Lee 300 gr RF GC

Hey Happy. Good Question. I just did this myself about 2 weeks ago, because I'm working on getting a bunch of hand-casting moulds, since I'm considering getting rid of my Ballisti-Cast. I decided the following moulds were my "tried-and-true".

Pistols:
9mm - H&G #314
10mm/40S&W - Lyman 401638
45ACP - Lyman 452374 (although I would change a few things on it)
- H&G #68

Revolvers:
32 (revolvers) - Lyman 31133
38 Spl - Lyman 358477 (150gr version)
357 Mag - Lyman 358156
44 Spl - Lyman 429421 (Original Keith version would be my pick, 'though I wouldn't reject a round-lube-groove version)
44 Mag - Lyman 429640 (Boomer Mikey's group buy version)
45 Colt - Depends (I use a "big-lube" because of shooting black powder, but others would choose otherwise, depending on what they use.)
454 Casull - RCBS 45-270-SAA

Rifle:
(I've only shot 30-cal. and I'm new at it. These moulds are what interests me, not necessarily what I know works.)
Lyman 311467
Lyman 31141
Saeco #315
Lyman 311407
NEI 308-180-GC "Hornet"

A simple answer to this question would be 3 names -- Loverin, Keith and Thompson.
