View Full Version : Measuring slugs from bore w/offset rifling?

I went to visit Pops tonight and we decided to slug our assorted .357's. Turns out, both the Smiths and the Rugers are configured with lands directly opposite grooves.
How in the bleepity bleep bleep do you measure slugs from these to determine your bore diameter?

Hello, Bigslug. You can get pretty close by turning slug so as to catch land edges on micrometer face..but the most accurate method is to use a V type anvil micrometer..or a V-block & indicator set-up on a surface plate.

S&W has 5 but Ruger should be 6.
