Cast a lot of bullets, new to the forum here. Never got into .30 cals, just .38, 44.45, and 458 and a few 6.5s. Anyone guide me to a good bullet/load for a 336 marlin, and a H&R handi in same.

I really like the Lyman 311041 it's 170gn air cooled Felix lube (.310) size loaded with 22.4 gn of IMR 3031 but always check your data don't take mine for granted this is for my marlin 336 by the way

Welcome to the party! Lyman 31141 with Re-7 starting at 20 grains and up to 27 grains works for me. Also, Imr 3031 does well with a couple of grains heavier charge.

koger, welcome to the forum. What do you want to use this for plinking or hunting and would that be small game or large game animals?

You could get two compleatly different answers.

RCBS 30-150FN works well in my 336 with 34g of H-4831.

Really depends what you want to do...
Another vote here for the 311041 - I use 26gr Varget for a great load you can shoot all day. I use this load for levergun silhouette Pigs thru Rams. Chickens get a 115gr 311008 & 8.5gr Universal Clays...

RD TLC311-165-RF, water dropped wheel weights, (my micro groove likes em harder), tumble lubed, over 26ish grain of TAC, length set to lightly engrave the rifling.

Koger,
Welcome to the group.[smilie=s:
Like the man from Sulphur Springs,Texas I recommend the Alliant ReLoder-7. I've used it with the Lazer Cast, an LBT-GOP-150, the 311041, Edd's modified 311466, Lee's 170gr FP, and Mark's Ranch Dog 165gr. It has given universal success. My Trapper seems to like the 24 grain load the best. It's easy on the shoulder and gets velocity significant enough for me and the whimpy blacktails of CA.

Again -- Welcome! Stick around. Make some popcorn.:bigsmyl2:

I would use it for informal metal sil., and maybe close range deer hunting here in KY, 75 yds in. Imr -3031 is one of my favorite powders, have 3 kegs of it. Thanks for all the replies, keep them coming.

+1 on the RD TLC311-165-RF

Their 6 cavity Lee mold spits out a lot of bullets quickly and the tumble lube grooves makes for easy removal from the mold. Ranch Dog Outdoors is closing shop so if you want one don't tarry.
