I purchased a 2 cav. Modern Bond mold from HARRYMPOPE ( George ), a few days ago.

Seems to be a very nice mold. Very nice condition for its age.( probably 1940's ? ? )

Cast two different plain based bullets. A 140 gr. and a 190 gr.
George says that the 190 gr. version was a real shooter for him.
The rear drive band with my alloy is running about .312" which is about ideal for my application .

I've cast some of the 190 gr. bullets and am ready to load and test at the range in a couple of my 06' rifles here in a few days.

I'll be shooting these sub - 1,200 fps.

Wish me luck.

Ben,

I don't think luck will play into this......

If the dimensions are right for your barrels they should work pretty good out of a 12" twist or faster. Don't know if they'll be stable out of a 14" at 1200 fps. It should hold on to velocity fairly well. That little 140 looks like it would be fun out of my .30 Badger...

Hmmmmmmmmmm, that bullet looks familar. LOL

I traded it to George a couple of years ago. I never did shoot it even though I had it for years so, I cann't say how it preformed for me. I did cast up a bunch to try when I get around to it but, as you can see, I haven't done that yet :( I'm kinda glad you beat me to it since I know you'll use it, I would have liked to have it back as it's a rare mold.

Frank,

The " number diameters " on the bands and nose of the bullet look real good for my rifles. I have 1-10 twist barrels so there should be no problems at all with stability of the bullet. I'm sizing .3115 " and I'll seat the bullet up into the lands about 1/16" - 1/8 " .

I'll keep you informed.

Best,

Ben

Ben,
Thank you using it and keeping us informed. it should be one of the best PB spitzer molds out there. There won't be any stablazition issues with it. I shoot bullets as long as 1.2 in my 14 twist single shot Douglas barrel @1400 fps.

Those look real pretty! I think I have a GB 190 gr .30 mold around here somewhere with a profile similiar to yours. I should dig it out and give it a try (never used it).

Let us know how it shoots! I really, really like the looks of that boolit.
