I experimented with a new load using the Lee 90321 .38 Cal 158 SWC-TL bullet in the .357 Magnum. This time I used a light Liquid Alox coating...in the past I used a heavy coating and it would lead up my pistol barrels. I used 5.5 grains of RED Dot (Promo) to get 1,100 FPS in my two revolvers and 1,260 in the Marlin 1894C. The accuracy was quite good and it was enjoyable to shoot. Also tried 4.0 grains in a .38 Special...gave me 900 FPS. Accuracy was good but not quite as good as some of my other lighter bullet loads. I did not get any appreciable leading. Excellent economical loads, that I thought I'd pass on.

Did you size.them? Or leave them as cast with Alox.

I shoot that bullet unsized lubed with 45-45-10 and 5.8/Unique and get the same ballistics(1200 rifle-1000 pistol). I cast it soft 50/50 WW/lead, no leading and very accurate to 200 yds in the rifle.

I size to.358 and use a heavy coat of 45/45/10. use 6.0gr unique no leading. Same boolit with 6gr 231 leads like crazy,

That's my favorite boolit in 38 special cases over 3.5gr of bullseye. Lots of fun in both my 686 and marlin carbine. I shoot them sized to .359 with a generous layer of 45/45/10 with good results. Will have to try a .357 load.
