Been going thru some brass that was thrown in a deal i got on some reloading eq. About a third of the 9mm has a ridge close to the bottom abou 1/4 around the case. Some iare barely there and some look almost cracked.

Any idea what this was caused by? I kept them but are not using them.

Likely fired in a pistol without a fully supported chamber, known as a bulge. Some people fix them with a tool some people toss them.

9mm Luger brass is usually thick enough not to do that. Could you report back with a headstamp?

90% winchester with a couple each RP, PMC and ppu. What kind or pistol does this? I don't want one. ;)

Sounds like your brass has been "Glocked". If it's not too bad, you can size and begin normal usage. Sometimes it's worse than that. When I find brass that has a pretty decent bulge, I just scrap it. enjoy Mike

Glock 9mm's really don't bulge. Glock .40's have a noticeable bulge.

Catsmith, look at the primers. If it was fired in a Glock it will have a rectangular mark.

Kd185, what does the "keyway" mark look like and what brand causes it?
