How long is a good time to age ACWW boolits? Been in this house almost 14 years. Wife move most of the small things when we moved here as I was working a lot of hours. Going through a box the other day and found 200 boolits from a RCBS 44 mold weighting 250 grains. They are as cast and not lubed. They have to be around 15 years old. I am still getting supprizes here. 3 1/2 years ago when primers were hard to find I opened a rubbermaid box and found 13K of primers. That goes with the new Colt AR that I found in the back of the safe a few years before the primers. I think I have figures out where the AR came from.

Sounds like a good day when you "find" an AR-15!

For age hardening air cool clip on WW a week is sufficient, and from what I have read a year is about as good as it gets, any more age won't age harden the boolits any more, but won't harm them either.

Bullets generally reach their peak in two weeks. They can soften again after a long period of time.

Loadem and shootem!

Unless they have sat around so long that they developed a white powder on the surface, I would use them happily.

It has been a good weekend in the old shed. Found 50 new Win 44 brass. Now I have something to but the old boolits in. I am getting more orginized. Found a Remington Smoot that I have not seen for about 6 months. It is only around 95%. I would rate it better but the grips have been replaced with ivory.

I just finished casting the boolits that I will shoot in the 2013
conventional pistol season. So I guess that a year is enough!

I can't say about ternary alloys but I do know that tin/lead bullets will get quite soft after a few years. I would guess that since most folks use low tin content that the hardness would be pretty stable after a few weeks.

I have a hard and fast rule for aging boolits.
Cast 'em hard and shoot 'em fast.
