I know there are several 414 SM shooter over here. Can anyone help with loading data for a 255gr cast bullet (I am actually use the Ranch Dog!) using H110, 1680, AA#9, 2400, or 4227?

Thanks

It doesn’t matter, any loading data would help!!!

It is a 15in Encore chambered in 414 SM. So the best answer might be… yes… LOL

To be perfectly honest. It is a REALY tight chamber. The 210 XTP’s fit incredibly well. I shot a 8 shot group at 100 that was under 1.5in. The 255gr Ranch Dogs have thrown me for a loop. I have had to size down to .410 because bullets sized to .411 will not even fit in the chamber. Also I am having to trim the brass .2 of an inch to chamber that 255gr slug. With that being said, I am starting at the bottom of the charts. LOL

I have a few emails out to powder companies asking for loading data help. I guess that is what I get for buying a SM that is the rarest of its kind… muwahahaha

Beaartooth bullets has a loads section maybe something there

Yes it does!! it only lists 5744 with a 255 bullet.

As far as I am concerned it is probably the definitive work on the 414,

Ya, I spent an on hour two different search engines... this is actually my third forum.

Reloader's nest look there

Found it with the search engine...

I'll go ask over there and THANKS!!!

2100 over the Chrony... ... ... ... ...

That was on of the reason I went with the 255 cast...

My notes show that I was shooting a 200 grain JHP over 21 grains of 2400 in my super 14 G2 contender. Chrono'd at 1600 fps and killed a doe antelope at about 150 yards with it. It was an easy shooting, accurate load.

Thanks Dan. I have a load for the 210gr Hornady's already figured out. I just want to shoot a heavy cast bullet.

I had some GREEEEAT advice from a fellow user.

The 414 Super Mag is the rarest of the SM’s. With that in mind, 445 loading data is much more plentiful. There is only .2 difference in the two… (still tracking???) I have loading data from Hornady using their 265gr in the 445. I am looking for loading data for the 414 using a 255gr. (still with me??? … … … LOL) That is very close. I am going down in diameter, but I am also going down in wait. Simply start at the bottom of the 265gr 445 data and work up. I called Hogdgon and pitched it to them and the tech said that was a great idea.

Stupid wildcats… … … muwahahahahahahaha!!!!
