My old circa 1972 Marlin 1895 with the 22" pre Micro Groove barrel shooting the RD 460-350GC with 55 grains of H322 averages 2016 FPS typically for 3 shots .
In another old style Marlin 1895 of 1978 vintage with the Micro Groove barrel I used the RD 460-350GC with 34 grains of XMP5744 . This is what I would call a medium load and would expect it to be in the 1600-1800 range although I've never run that one over the Chrony before .

Sooooo many powders will get you there.
I have used RE7, Vaeget, 4895, H322 all to get in that window.
All worked well, all shot great.

No, just a typo. I fixed it.
I find 45-70 to be so easy to get good loads for in a Marlin. I actually haven't found a load that doesn't shoot well.

Another that has proved top notch with that bullet is about 47 grains of AA2015.
