Would anyone on here have 20 of each size of the Corbin aluminum VLD tip inserts?
I would be more then happy too pay for them plus postage etc...

I have a idea in mind to replicate these in Acetal using a gang mold, the little hobby injection molder should be able to make 20-40 per injection....

And anyone interested in hobby injection molding....
heres a link to a great little unit.

Thanks

I don't have any but I may have access to some. One thing to think about, and maybe you have, the Corbin tips are really only good for the VLD shape bullets and I assume that is what you want.

I for one would be very interested in purchasing some from you if you do get it going, but I would prefer something more like a 6S shape to them.

That link you shared is pretty interesting, still not cheap, but if you made enough different products you could probably do well. Have you checked into the cost of the custom mold you would need?

thanks Guys, I went to a mates house and chopped 25 of his .30cal 180 grain Ballistic tips.. Did a average weight on the tips and essentially, they come out at 1 grain each...
Given the size of the blocks and area to work with, i could do a tree of 24 with 0.078 inch spacings on a tip thats .148 wide with a stem diameter of 0.095 and a stem length of 0.190 ( i have to add another 0.10 to come of the tree) with a about 12-13 degree taper, this will replicate the .30 ballistic tip..

BT id be really interested in knowing if they stay the swaged shape, as my experience working in a injection molding shop when i was a kid, was most plastics have some form of memory.. But i picture your design would be a tipping type die and the punch had a blind hole to limit the stem etc.. Oh, hurry up with you BT punch... i have a hankering on some 338 VLDs..

MI, i can assure you that is insanely cheap, most dental type bench tops that will shoot 7 grams would cost you about $7-10K new...
And MI if you could grab 10 of each of Corbins, id happily pay plus postage etc too the not so happy land down under...

I was able to swage Airsoft BBs into some very good looking tips. They hold their shape well and look PERFECT!

I'll have more to post as I continue to experiment.

Good shooting

I will say, they look "GOOD"
I crunched the numbers on making up gang molds etc, and the price isnt that great..
Smallest bag of Acetal i can get is 15kg (35 lbs???) thats enough to make about 100,000 tips the size of Noslers. And with CNC and EDM time too make up 5 gang molds plus production time, the price would be about $0.04 U.S cents each.... The killer is Registered Air post from Australia to the USA.. bring the price to about $0.06 cents

If you guys can get a 0.2 gram BB that form up and keeps shape (let me know what brand as i cant find any in Australia that worked) It would be 1/4 of the price..
I would go with BT Snipers die....
