old lyman no8 windage beech front sight
for those using the smith buck horn rear ladder sight with peep hole slider on there buffalo clasic and would like a little windage you can get a remake of the old lyman no8 beech sight with windage made by red river sights from buffalo arms see pics of the original lyman sight and the red river remake,i think this is the perfect front sight for the smith rear sight.

Please correct for proper historical identification - the incorrect name of the "Beech" Combination Sight
It was invented by Edward B BEACH, patent granted on April 9, 1867, no 63,690

Lyman COPIED the Beach Combination Sight and called it their #8 (Edit #5)

It was an option sight on Marlin Ballard and Colt rifles

It is a shame the firearms manufacturers, vendors and writers have not given proper credit to the inventor for over a century

And if anyone wants a replica Beach Combination Sight, order MVA's. They are exquisite works of art

Looks like I need one of those sights for my 45/70.

I found the sight Red River sight at Bufallo Arms and may consider it after looking at John's suggestion of the MVA version.

While I recognize the MVA initials for somewhere, I can't find anything on Bing for the company. What's the full name or what is the link?

Thanks for the original post Windwalker as I've been looking for just such a replica sight for one of my 45/70 rifles. I have an original Lyman #8 on a 32/20 rifle.

Update: I called MVA this morning and I should be shooting with the new sight on my 45/70 by this time next week.
